Happy New Year, readers! It’s 2018. Can you believe it’s already 2018? I swear, the older I get, the more quickly years seem to fly by. It feels like I’d barely gotten my feet on the ground in 2017 before we were ringing it out. But now we’ve got a new year, 525,600 minutes to make the most of.
For many people in my life, 2017 was a dumpster fire. For much of the world that surrounds me, 2017 seemed like utter garbage. So, readers, today I challenge you to embrace the new year and to make it newer, better, cleaner, more successful than you ever thought possible.
Get to the gym more often. Read good books. Eat good food. Make or maintain good friends. Fill your life with wonderful things. Because we don’t always have control of the not-so-wonderful things that come into our lives. Reflect on the positive things that you encounter, and remember that even when things seem awful, there is always a silver lining to be had.
Maybe that seems naive. Maybe I sound air headed. Maybe I’ve been drinking too much of whatever juice Anne Shirley has been drinking. Or maybe I’ve just had my fair share of shitty and I know that the best way to counteract it, is to remember that everyday, something good is happening in our lives. Whatever it is, I challenge you (and myself) to choose joy in all things.
Here’s to making 2018 the best year, yet!

Happy New Year.
Yours,
The Plucky Reader
